Choosing a reading
Live or Recorded Tarot Reading? How to Choose
Neither is better. They suit different people, different questions, and different moments.
If you're wondering whether a live conversation or a recorded reading is right for you, you're asking the right question.
At The Clarity Chamber, both formats have the same aim: to give you a clearer view of what's in front of you, so you can decide for yourself. What differs is how you receive that perspective, and what feels most natural to you.
This guide walks through both, so you can choose with confidence.
What is a live video tarot reading?
A live reading is a private, one-to-one conversation with me over Zoom or Google Meet, in real time. You can choose 30, 60 or 90 minutes, and a written summary is sent to you by email afterwards, so you have something to return to.
Because it's a conversation, you can:
- Add context as we go, so the reading responds to what's actually happening in your life
- Ask follow-up questions the moment something comes up
- Talk a card through if it doesn't land the way you expected
- You're weighing something that feels layered or emotional, and you'd like to talk it through
- You think best out loud
- You like the reassurance of a real person responding in the moment
What is a recorded video tarot reading?
A recorded reading is a personalised video created around the questions you send. You submit your questions, I sit down with the cards, and I record a reading made for you, addressing each question in turn. It's delivered by email within 3 business days, with a written summary and a bonus insight where appropriate.
You choose how many questions you'd like answered: 5, 7 or 11.
The difference is pace. You receive your reading when you're ready, and you can watch it more than once, at whatever time of day suits you.
- You'd rather take the reading in quietly, on your own, at your own pace
- Your schedule, or the time difference, makes a live session awkward
- You have several distinct questions and want each one given space
- You like to sit with an answer and come back to it

How to decide: three quick questions
If you're still on the fence, these can help.
1. Do you want to talk it through as it happens?
If yes, a live reading gives you that. If you'd rather listen first and think afterwards, recorded may feel more comfortable.
2. Would you rather sit with the answers afterwards?
A recorded reading is easy to return to, and so is a written summary. Both formats include one. Consider which you're more likely to revisit.
3. How layered is what you're asking?
When a situation has many moving parts, or feelings you're still untangling, a conversation can help. When you have a handful of clear, separate questions, a recorded reading gives each one room.
There's no wrong answer. If you're unsure, go with the format that feels calmer when you imagine it.
One thing that's the same either way
Whichever you choose, a reading isn't about telling you what to do or what will happen. Tarot offers perspective: it helps you explore what may be influencing a situation, understand your own thoughts and feelings, and consider the possibilities ahead. The decisions stay yours.
